Giant Claw – Decadent Stress Chamber

Decadent Stress Chamber is my vision of a satisfying pop music, a ‘free-pop’ that indulges in musical tangents and diverse song structures within the form.

Working with vocal samples I wanted to try and not only make new melodies and structures from the sources, but make new lyrical phrases or subtle meaning from the re-combination of syllables. To me the themes are about healing and feeling a sense of release through music in the face of extreme external stress or pressure.

I also liked the idea of blending distortion with cleaner electronic music elements, or blending sparkling synth patches from the Korg M1 with layers heavily distorted bass. I tried to achieve some of the looseness of rock music, while embracing the digital kick drum programming of technical metal music.
